My School History _ Institución Educativa Departamental Externado Mixto de San Sebastián.

 

The Colegio Mixto de Bachillerato was created by ordinance number 26 of December 1969, emanating from the Asamblea Departamental, Governor Dr. Clemente Díaz Granados Caballero. On July 22, 1970, academic work began at the Escuela Urbana de Varones (today IED ALFONSO LÓPEZ), with the first year of high school, through operating License number 150 issued by the Secretaría de Educación Departamental. In 1971, License Number 002 authorized the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades of baccalaureate, for the years 1971, 1972, and 1973. In the month of January 1971, the College moved to where it currently operates (on the land of the old agricultural farm). Its first rector was Dr. Joaquín De la Peña Urbina, who served for three months as rector Ad-honorem, replaced by the priest Saúl García De la Ossa and as secretary, Ernesto Garrido Amador, who also served as a teacher along with 5 other classmates. The school also had a doorman, 3 general service employees, and 39 students.

Between the years 1975 to 1.999 The school was directed by the following rectors: Lic. Adel Enrique Bolaño Navarro (1.975 – 1979), In this administration, the Institution went from being departmental to nationalized, facilitating better attention by the national government, and it obtained its first official approval for the Basic Secondary, Sixth to Ninth, by Resolution number 22528 of December 4, 1979.

Nicolás Mejía Leiva (1979-1986), deceased. In 1980 the chaplaincy was created by priest Jesús Aguirre López. In 1981 the first proclamation of Bachilleres Académicos was achieved.

Lic. Ludís María Ospino de Ramírez (1986 – 1999). During this administration, the Chemistry and Physics laboratory was built, being considered one of the best in the region, the school restaurant, the library, the stands of the multiple courts, and the walls of the school were also built, thanks to the contribution of students, parents, teachers and the community in general. In 1994, by agreement of the Municipal Council headed by Mayor Marcos Bruges Santos, the Night Shift was created, starting work in February 1995, and resolution No. 267 of October 25, 1995, was obtained, where the first class of Bachilleres Académicos was proclaimed. In 1999, an agreement was signed with the SENA Agropecuario de Santa Marta for students to obtain the title of Bachiller Técnico en Especies Menores.

Mr. Enrique Alberto Altamar Valest (2000 - 2003). For this administration, Decree 439 of December 9, 2002, organizes the education of the department of Magdalena, educational institutions, some are merged and others associated, by the Ley General de la Educación. In our municipality, eight educational institutions are constituted, including the Institución Educativa Departamental Externado Mixto (INSEDES). The Institution is made up of four rural headquarters and an urban school:

1. Escuela Urbana Mixta Cecilia Caballero De López- fused.

2. Escuela Rural Mixta El Recreo – Associated.

 3. Escuela Rural Mixta de Los Galvis – Associated.

4. Escuela Rural Mixta de El Pital – Associated.

5. Escuela Rural Mixta Juan Ribón Pacheco de Buenavista – Associated.

In the period from 2003 to 2005, Mr. Henry Patiño Paba assumed the rectorship of the institution. On June 8, 2004, the Meganavegantes computer room was inaugurated at the main headquarters, donated by the National Government through the Computadores Para Educar program. The computer room was also inaugurated in the headquarters of Los Galvis and El Pital. This same year to rescue the cultural traditions of the carnival of the region is institutionalized "El Pre Carnaval de la INSEDES". The agreement with the SENA Agropecuario de Santa Marta is resumed, and the process of training and practice for the students begins, to hold the title of technician in Agricultural and livestock production. This same year the call for the choice of the anthem of the INSEDES was made, won with the authorship of the lyrics and music by Mr. JORGE JAZBUM.

For the years 2006 until the year 2013, the rectorial assumes Mr. Angelmiro Rojas Ospino (deceased). During this administration, in 2009 the construction of six classrooms and a set of bathrooms for students began.

In 2012 as a result of the winter wave of 2010 and 2011 eight temporary classrooms are built by the Fondo Financiero de Proyecto de Desarrollo (FONADE).  Due to the above, Cecilia Caballero de López School is transferred to the facilities of the Externado Mixto.

In 2013 the Secretary of Departmental Education commissioned in the month of October the rectory to Mr. Idolfo Rojas Cañas; director of educational nucleus 049

In 2015 three ICT classrooms are put at the service of the educational community, achievement obtained with money from the Institution and contributions from the national government through the Punto Vive Digital Plus Program; with more than 40 computers, an audio studio, and a video, entertainment room.

To strengthen our Technical Emphasis on the Environmental Management System, the ecological reign is institutionalized, an event that takes place annually in the month of October and consists of manufacturing clothes and accessories in recyclable material.

In 2016 the rectory of the institution is assumed by Esp. Magalis Florez Zambrano, who holds the position to date. In 2017 the realization of the recycling fair is established to strengthen the institutional cultural event. In 2018 thanks to the Programa Ciclón led by the governor of the Department of Magdalena and the RESEARCH GROUPS of INSEDES: Iguanidaes, Energies clean, and Chiminsedistas. The Institution received more than 200 tablets for the service of students and teachers, improving their academic work.

On July 22, 2020, the Institución Educativa Departamental Externado Mixto de San Sebastián celebrated its 50 years in the service of an entire community, forging leaders in quality of human service, delivering in that year the fifty-ninth (59) promotion of baccalaureates, academics, and technicians in Environmental Management System in the Daytime, graduating 1,744 young students. The Night Shift of Adult Education has proclaimed the Thirty-sixth (36) promotion of academic baccalaureates with 733 young and adult graduates. becoming an Alma mater, emblematic institution, and leader in the training and education of young people in the community of San Sebastian and the region, with leadership and improvement.
